Reading Romance

Research on romance novel fans says that women actively seek this type of material because of the perfect world that they find there. For the literature that I've encountered so far, I found women who go through experiences that teach them to be more in tune with their feelings, to savor and know LOVE when they finally meet it. I found persons who have tired themselves out looking for the real thing, but eventually and luckily, they survive and surrender to the magical event of having the one. And speaking for myself too, I want someone who touches me both physically and emotionally.

Thanks to e-books, I no longer have to spend both money and time looking for something that will captivate me at bookstores. Recently, I downloaded two works by Cathryn Fox and finished them in three days. Here are the provided teasers for each:

  • Pleasure Prolonged - "Once a mere lab assistant, Erin Shay is thrilled over her new promotion. The curvaceous, brainy, somewhat straightlaced lady has been placed in charge of an important new research project: testing a serum specially designed to substantially prolong a couple's lovemaking. With scientists Jay and Laura off to their honeymoon, Erin's been left alone in the lab... with her hard-boiled new assistant, Kale Alexander, a sexy stud who has "playboy" written all over him.

Erin's never even had a one-night stand - but the project's success depends upon her playing the wild, wanton bad-girl to red-hot Casanova Kale. Since she's already learned the perils of leaving her heart too open to heartbreak, this time she'll be the one calling the shots. Her bad-boy partner is going to know from the git-go that this will be a brief sex-only affair - hot, torrid, steamy love in the interests of science... with absolutely no strings attached. But when the loving is this deliciously hot, who in her right mind wouldn't want to prolong it?"
  • Pleasure Exchange - "Who better than Sam York - a super-brain blessed with the body of an Adonis - to head up the research team entrusted with developing the greatest scientific breakthrough since Viagra? His experiments with female libido enhancers need one more crucial test: on a willing human subject. And when ace reporter Cathleen Nichols, the sexy, nosy neighbor Sam's been lusting for, exposes the lab's provocative work in a revealing article, the genius stud knows he's found the perfect participant."

The parts that I like most here are where Cat and Sam learn that they mean a lot MORE THAN AN EXPERIMENT to each other. And due to Sam's previous bitter experiences, he has hesitated to devote himself to relationships, fearing that women left when something "bigger and better" came along. But breaking through his fears, he asks Cat to stay. I also liked how Cat learned that success doesn't just lie in writing hard news. What she considered as mere "fluff" articles are actually valued by her readers and in writing those, she found genuine happiness.
