Hong Kong Day 1: Travel Tips
First tip: Don't take this seriously.
It doesn't mean you won't benefit in any way, but if you're looking for serious tips then you came to the wrong blog. But if after reading serious tips, you got bored, then coming back to this would be a good idea!
I may fear the flying cockroach but not traveling alone. It's actually cool 'coz not everyone is confident being only by themselves. You are responsible for your needs, security... And most of all, you get to do what you really like without having to worry about different tastes and fancies. Planning may take time and effort but good thing, the web offers a wealth of information for an awesome, hassle-free trip. Now here are things you might not have thought about yet:
1. At first, I was looking for hotels then later found myself reading "Tips on Sleeping at the Airport." What a smooth transition! And why not? Especially if you were supposed to pay almost four thousand pesos just for an additional night. A friend also supports this idea since he had already been to HK and it's OK (nice rhyme there)!
2. Since we're already passing time at the airport, an Indonesian aquaintance said "Don't stay awake. You'll be hungry and you'll end up spending more." LOL
3. My Cheeseburger Meal costs HK$38.8 or 233 pesos. You only get to have large soda and fries. Well, Cebu Pacific meals would cost you more (I prefer Chicken Inasal and Beef Stew though).
4. Bring a pen. Since I left mine at home, I tried to borrow from the cabin crew to fill out the Tourist Arrival Form they distributed. One of them said she'll get back to me but never did. I deplaned having this bitter memory. *wink
5. With the unfortunate disgrace of the Tanim Bala (which was already developed into a game by the way), you can secure your luggage by having it wrapped in plastic for 160 pesos. But if you still got a bit of faith in humanity and your luggage quality (pero ang totoo kuripot lang), then skip that part and pull your stuff together!
6. Aside from the Terminal Fee which is already included in the Cebu Pacific fees, you need to pay the Philippine Travel Tax before checking in. Mine's 1,620 pesos. Count your change before leaving. Kinulang ng fifty pesos ang sa kin. Nabalikan ko naman agad.
7. Utilize the web check in feature both for travel from and back to the Philippines.
8. Prior to your trip, call your mobile network provider to deactivate roaming and connectivity - if you want to avoid automatic charges once stepping into your destination. Communicate via WiFi which I am now using to blog.
9. Activate your international banking access for emergency purposes. Project your expenses and bring just enough cash.
10. Don't trust the Check In Counters screen at NAIA. It's not updated so just approach the carrier personnel to find out if the counter for your flight has been opened.
11. It is always wise to travel light. I did not have a prepaid baggage and spent only 2,221.84 pesos (two-way) for my plane fare with Cebu Pac's promo. I booked this in September 2015.
