Visita Iglesia
This Holy Week, we decided to stay here in Manila. Yesterday, Good Friday, our family was able to visit the record-breaking fourteen churches. In previous years, we only had a range of 7 to 10.
1. Our Lady of Consolation (Recoletos)
2. San Isidro Labrador
3. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (Project 6)
4. Our Lady of Hope (Pag-Asa)
5. Sta. Rita (Philam Homes)
6. Lourdes
7. Sta. Teresita
8. Sta. Perpetua (D. Tuazon)
9. Sto. Domingo
10. UST
11. Manila Cathedral
12. Malate Church
13. San Agustin
14. Baclaran
In the country, we observe this tradition of Visita Iglesia or church visits patterned after the old practice of visiting seven churches in Rome. Some expand it to include fourteen churches and say the Stations of the Cross, with one station in each church.
Tomorrow's the most important occassion: Easter Sunday! Afterwhich, I am looking forward to a new life in the office: More enthusiastic people, improved work relations.
