Ash Wednesday

“Lord, it is through Your wounds that my brokenness is healed.”

Why ash?
Simbolo raw ito ng nasira, nasunog, namatay.
May also stand for a heart that was broken. A severed relationship due to sin.

As ash is being administered, what must you think about?
Father suggests two things:
Pagnilayan natin.
2. We are limited. We accept mortality, and that makes us humble. We become appreciative of others’ gifts. We realize that we need others.

Ash Wednesday daw should be accompanied by metanoia- change of heart. As we prepare ourselves for Lent, and Easter most specially, let us say to ourselves, “Babalikan ko Siya.”

Go back to God. Easter is when we realize that love is eternal. It is when you forgive someone who had hurt you.
