NBI Clearance

There are many things about securing a clearance which are not clear to me.
Same place (Quezon City Satellite Office). Year 2008. I last got my NBI clearance. Same number of people in queue, and waiting that seems to take forever. The only difference: No need for dirty fingers, thanks to the digital fingerprinting system. But be it renewal or new application, one has to go through the entire process. With a line this long, one might just lose his temper and decide to commit a crime. The man says on the mega phone: “Yung pipila agad sa picture without data encoding, di ‘yan tatalab!”Ang sarap siguro magtrabaho sa likod ng window. Aba'y akal…

Taking Risks

Today I did something life changing: Finally telling my boss that I am leaving the network.

Having written my resignation letter about a month ago, I have only come to the decision of walking to her office yesterday. And thankfully, I walked out of that room knowing that she understood, wished me well, and cared for my future.
She is the type of boss who believed I can deliver at all times. She trusted me with a number of responsibilities, a lot of which I felt challenging and new. My three years in PTV have been worthwhile. Despite the tough times, I remained hopeful that eventually, things would turn out fine. I embraced new projects, coped with limitations, and felt fulfilled after each day. Hours have been productive.
In job interviews, it is obvious that I had a great time in the network and that I owe so much from them. Voiceover tapes, sequence guides, scripts, EFP, the studio,… Ate Regine, Nin, Alaine, Bryan, Daivin, Ate Malou, Kuya Ernie, Ate Vivian, Raine, Kuya Richard, Direk …

Identity crisis: We found this decor at the studio set of The Morning Show. Can't scare kids away... Could it be Frosty's relative? Anyhow, people had it removed after the Halloween season.

Mga Kagila-Gilalas na Kapalpakan sa Events

2. "Chance for photo op." Opportunity na nga, chance pa!
3. Nawalang music habang may tumatanggap ng plake.
9. Mic test habang may nagsasalita. Paulit-ulit pa! Mas malala: Nag-fade up pa ng music.
10. Malaking board na natumba habang may press interview.

Murphy's Law

My dad introduced me to an e-mail that enumerated several versions of Murphy's Law: If anything can go wrong, it will. My favorites are:

1. Law of the Bath: When the body is fully immersed in water, the telephone rings.
2. Coffee Law: As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold.
3. Law of Bio-mechanics: The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to the reach.

And so today, I found myself formulating my own sayings:

1. Law of Mechanical Repair: The probability of destruction is proportional to the desire to repair.
2. Law of Rest: The probability of sleeping increases when it's time to stay awake.
3. Law of Property: Just when you decided to purchase a very expensive gadget, you encounter the robbers.
4. Law of Finances: The probability of getting paid is inversely proportional to the intensity of the promising at the time the debt was made.
5. The chances that it will rain increases wh…

Undas 2011

Hehe

Dinner with My Mumu

Image
It all started with poking.

And we can’t even remember who started it on Facebook. Angie was a classmate in SocSci during my UP undergrad years. As we would always say, it’s hard to find true and lasting friends in college as compared to high school. In our case, we took different courses and we’ve only been together in one subject. Soon, you’ll tread on separate paths finding your own jobs and new circle of friends. Yung tipong apat na taon o mahigit pa mula nang huli kayong magkita, but it seemed only last week when you finally met again.

Sa pag-aakalang mabibitin, we ordered Nippon Ebi, The Great Fuji, and Seafood Kani Sticks.…
