How To Clean Your Makeup Brush

For hygiene, it’s important to regularly check your makeup tools to keep them clean and less prone to bacteria build-up. Even when you think that you have nice containers to protect brushes from dirt (like a leather case), that same container may actually cause germs to spread rapidly. For now, let me share how refreshing your makeup brushes to be good as new can be as easy as 1-2-3.

Washing

1. In a wide plastic cup, plate, or clean powder cover, dip your brush in water to remove dirt. The amount of water should just be enough not to reach the material above the bristles. This is to avoid rust.

2. Throw the used water. Then mix 3-5 drops of makeup remover or facial cleanser with water. Dip the brush while making gentle circular motions.

3. When the water already changes its color and you see sediments settling, go ahead and rinse the brush with pure water.

Drying

4. Tap and gently press the brush after washing.

5. In front of a fan, dry the bristles by moving them against a towel in abrupt up and down or left to right direction.

My brush is now as soft and clean as when I first used it. For kikay kit and accessories, I use transparent containers like these to easily find what I need.
