My Commute from Marikina to Cavite

I could no longer remember the last time that I rode the LRT. Almost all of my previous train rides in Manila were at the MRT which runs from North Avenue to Taft Avenue. Yesterday, I had the chance to visit my couple friends’ home in Tanza, Cavite. Technology is so good now that just with the help of ChatGPT, I was able to navigate the commuter jungle with ease.

Another thing I appreciate is how connected my trips were. Coming from the Pasig-Marikina station of LRT-2, I got off the train at Doroteo Jose. The single journey card is worth 18 pesos. Transferring to the other LRT line was a breeze as there’s a covered walkway and ample signage. I reached the Recto station of LRT-1 in a few minutes and paid 35 pesos for a single journey ticket to the PITX station. PITX is one of the biggest passenger terminals in the Philippines, and commuters love that it’s air conditioned. There are restaurants such as Popeyes and Marugame Udon, and stores like Fashion Rack and KKV. The tricky part is knowing where to find the queue for your specific bus trip. Mine was at Gate 6, and I was immediately able to board one to Naic, Cavite. The fare going to Tanza is 70 pesos.

Using apps like GrabCar and InDrive is very helpful, but I also love commuting especially now that we have a lot of train lines and stations available. Even if you don’t have a specific agenda, I suggest riding trains just for the experience and exploring Manila.
