Japan: The First Day

The morning rain didn't hinder our itinerary. Thanks to the transparent umbrellas proactively lent by the hotel staff, the experience was rather convenient.

From Nagoya, we took the train to Gifu. Then it was the perfect time for brunch at a cafe gallery.

Maita and I had Omurice and coffee while Gianne had porridge and an Azuki bean with mochi dessert.

And off we went to the park, enjoying the relaxing scenery.

Their fast walking pace encouraged me to take more pictures so I could make them pause for a while. Haha!

The Ropeway led us to Gifu Castle. The cable ride (980 yen/passenger) was a pleasure in itself, since it was spacious at the time we boarded.

The uphill climb also tested our knees' strength and the ability to carry on a conversation and a few laughs. Tita poses are inevitable, but I prefer this one:

Touring the castle (200 yen entrance fee), we reached the top and indulged in the view.

We also took photos of ourselves which later on seemed to be ready images for About the Author sections of a book! Here's one example:

The next stop was at the Kinkazan Squirrel Village (200 yen entrance fee) where those little creatures feasted like:

We also entered the temple housing the Great Buddha, standing 45 feet tall (200 yen entrance fee).

Finally, we had an awesome dinner at Takumi inside a mall in Nagoya. The full course meal featured Hida beef which made us question what we've been doing for half of our lives. It was so tender and flavorful!

Including an appetizer, salad, drink, and ice cream, this costs 4000 yen (around Php 2000). Not bad for a unique experience.
