Blogging 101

Following are the important points raised, including some blogging hate-ables.

Ø No matter how REAL a blogger claims to be, all of us are guilty of self-packaging.
Ø Danger is always present coz readers may put what you write in the wrong context, giving wrong reactions.
Ø It can be likened daw to masturbation. Self-indulgence na lang.
Ø With increasing number of readers, you tend to censor yourself.

But...
Ø A blog can be an emancipating tool.
Ø It is an accessible way of writing and reading facts of daily life.
Ø It makes possible the criticism of the mainstream media.
Ø Nagpapaalam ng tunay na kalagayan. (Ingat lang sa hoaxes)

So beware.

Ø The moment we give ourselves to blogging means that we are allowing people to take a look at our lives. Ika nga ng maton, “matitiktikan.” May matitimbrehan.
Ø Blogging is a measure of transparency. How far you are willing to disclose.
Kahit sabihin mong “In my opinion, you’re a b*tch,” ‘di ka lusot. Natawa ‘ko kasi ang pormal nito. Ha ha ha...
Ø Be honest and fair. Be accountable. Disclose your personal agenda.
Ø Be civil. Moderate comments coz we are responsible not only for what we say but also for the comments that we allow on our blogs.
Ø There’s no agreed-upon code of ethics. So let’s just practice self-regulation.

Most importantly, don’t say anything online that you wouldn’t say in person. Ranting? My classmate puts it succinctly: Though it’s a personal take, it must not be a personal attack.
